EFT LogoWhat is EFT?
EFT is an exciting new therapy yet one which has its roots in ancient Chinese medicine and the meridian system. Developed in America by Gary Craig, it is based on the underlying principle that the quality of our lives is directly related to our emotional health. Its essence is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. Using EFT, this may be cleared and the body’s natural flow restored. It is an excellent way of treating both emotional and physical symptoms.

How does EFT work?
Our bodies are constantly sending messages along energetic pathways, or meridians to keep all parts in touch with what is going on. Without these messages we would not be able to see, hear, smell or taste; neither would we know if we were being subjected to cold or pain.

EFT involves a process of tapping with the fingers at various points along these meridians, mostly around the face. This has the effect of releasing blockages, and restoring the body’s natural flow of energy. A positive effect is generally felt immediately although sometimes several treatments are required to complete the process. In principle EFT is similar to acupuncture but without the use of needles.

What can EFT be used for?
EFT has been used successfully to treat fears, phobias, addictions, abuse, anger, grief, insomnia, panic attacks, anxiety, past and present traumas and post traumatic stress as well as many physical symptoms.

Can EFT be used in conjunction with other therapies?
EFT works extremely well in conjunction with other therapies. I have found flower essences especially useful in supporting the changes felt as a result of EFT. However, it is so effective and results are frequently so rapid that clients often feel no need to use other therapies.

SG’s experience of EFT
In the past I have not been good with heights. Tall buildings, towers, mountain driving or cliff walks were a nightmare.
I love to walk and knowing I was planning to go to Madeira which included mountain driving and mountain walking I realised I needed to do something about my problem.

Shortly before my trip I was talking to Alison who suggested trying EFT. I had never heard of it but said I would give it a go. I had one session which didn’t take long and I wasn’t really sure if it had helped but when I got to Madeira I couldn’t believe the difference. I drove, walked the highest mountains and looked down on the clouds, walked on areas with sheer drops and went up in a cable car. I FELT ELATED. I wish I had heard of EFT years ago. I have recommended it to friends and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again.
